We are so blessed to work with a caring and awesome company like Mary Kay. I held a party with another company, and I was shocked what the consultants had to do to stay in the company. If they don't make a quota per party, then they have to pay the company, and the paperwork they have to fill out is outragous! The shipping is craxy as well. I am so glad I work with Mary Kay!

Of course, you don't have to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant to receive a Cinderella gift. If your company doesn't provide incentives that motivate you, why not accomplish the same thing on your own? Whether you purchase a silk blouse, rent a video, or just turn off the phone for an hour, you can reward yourself for a stellar performance. (Mary Kay: You Can Have It All 1997 Calendar)

Why are successful people able to do things that failures won't do? Because successful people have a purpose strong enough to make them form the habit of doing these things. It's one reason why a small minority are successful while a majority are satisfied with mediocre results. It all boils down to purpose. Remember, God feeds the birds but He doesn't throw the food in the nest. So it is with Mary Kay Cosmetics. We provide every possible suggestion to help you succeed, but you must take that "food" for thought and put it into action. An idea is a pent-up reservoir full of energy, absolutely worthless until put into action.

Quote from Mary Kay Ash

"Never give up, because you never know if the next try is going to be the one that works. Many times you will be surrounded by adversity, but no matter what, don't give up. Success is just around the corner for the person who refuses to quit. I remember how much courage it takes to ask that tenth person to become a Consultant or to book a class when the first nine said no. If that tenth person says yes, you can’t wait to make that next call to talk to somebody else! That’s how success inspires you."

Interconnected
Everything in your life has an influence and an interaction with everything else. Make an improvement in one area of your life, and many other areas will benefit.
Everything in your world is interconnected. Create value in one place, and that value casts its light in additional places as well.

Your positive thoughts and actions often have immediate and direct results. They also have indirect results that can continue far beyond the obvious.

A small kindness offered to just one person can end up benefiting countless others. The love you give will always, in ways that you may never even realize, come back to you.

Success and fulfillment do not occur in isolation. You'll receive no great benefit from being positive about only a few things if you take a negative approach in other areas.

Instead, focus all your awareness and intention in a positive, fulfilling direction. Then, all the many connections will organize in such a way as to move you quickly forward.

Dare to dream
The main thing that keeps an objective out of reach is your assumption that you cannot reach it. You're able to do precisely what you expect to be able to do.
Are there dreams that you dare not to dream because you've decided that you cannot attain them? If so, then your negative expectation has become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Before you abandon or downgrade your most treasured dreams, consider this. When your goal is personally meaningful and compelling, you can achieve it, whatever it may be.

You are never too old or too young, too rich or too poor, to direct the energy of your life toward a compelling objective. Life is about making a difference, and that's something you can do no matter what your circumstances may be.

There is somewhere you truly wish to go, something you sincerely desire to achieve, right this very moment. Take the time to find it, commit yourself to it, and make the effort to make it happen.

Your dreams represent some of the most valuable gifts you have to give to life. Dare to dream, and allow the best of who you are to be fully expressed.

Sincerity
If you agree too easily you will not be trusted. If you disagree too often you will not be believed.
When you strive to be seen as sincere, you most certainly will not be. For true sincerity is never the result of contrivance.

Let go of your need to impress others, and you will indeed be impressive. Let go of your concern for appearances, and you'll be authentically sincere.

The way to be consistently believed is to always speak the truth. The way to be truly respected is to live the big moments and the small ones with integrity.

If you feel the need to hide the truth about what you are doing, it's a good idea to seriously reconsider your intentions. Nothing gained by deception will ever be of any real value to you.

Say what you mean, be who you are, and do what you know is right. Live with sincerity, and the pathways you follow will be richly fulfilling.

Beyond yourself
How far beyond yourself are you willing to think and act? Have you ever done anything that will benefit the world not today, not next year, but a thousand years from now?
If you limit your awareness to only your own concerns, you will continually be frustrated and disappointed. That is because your true nature exists far beyond the superficial, petty concerns of your shallow and fragile ego.

Imagine being able to live without fear, in a constant state of pure peacefulness and effortless fulfillment. That is the terrain you can inhabit when you let go of the concerns of self.

When you erect impenetrable borders between you and everything else, you push life's immense abundance away from your experience. The walls of exclusion and judgment that you create do quickly become your prison.

Your awareness does not have to be limited by your perceptions. Beyond the confines of time and distance there is no end to the fulfillment that can be known.

What you can achieve alone is quite impressive. Yet what you create by going beyond yourself can indeed fulfill every dream.

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

The definition of a successful person is simply an ordinary person with extraordinary determination. You cannot keep a determined person from success. If you place stumbling blocks in his way, he will take them for stepping stones and will use them to climb to new heights. The one who succeeds has a goal, a dream, and makes her plans and follows them.

Success is largely a matter of stumbling forward. We fail forward to success. It's a case of falling forward and getting up whenever you fall down and beginning again. Failure is an inevitable and necessary and a useful part of being successful. Actually we learn more from failing than from succeeding because failure impresses us with what we did not do, and it impresses us more memorably than succeeding. ()

When a woman asks me how she can achieve her goal, I offer pretty much the same advice I was given many years ago when I worked for Stanley Home Products: Hitch your wagon to a star, find a railroad track to run on, and tell somebody what you intend to do. In addition, I emphasize the importance of writing that goal down on paper. Certainly you will be ever aware of your goal if you attach signs proclaiming your ambitions on places such as your bathroom mirror, the visor in your car, your refrigerator, and your desk. Did you ever stop to think how many people have jobs because you are selling. When a sale is professionally made, everybody wins -- the salesperson, the customer, the manufacturer, the truck driver, the freight company! Everyone wins. When a sale is not made, everybody loses. The industry loses, the manufacturer loses, and it backs up and up. Professionally selling is the name of the game, motivating people to get a sense of the tremendous contribution that we can make by being a professional sales person. We must build each other up. We must keep the excitement, keep the fun, keep the romance, keep the glamour and keep the otherness and keep the honor in this business.

One of my favorite after-dinner stories is about Daniel in the lions' den. One by one, the ferocious lions approached to devour him, and each time he whispered something that caused each lion to stroll back to his corner and lie down. Frustrated, his captors removed Daniel from the den and demanded to know what he had whispered to the now docile lions. Daniel replied, "I just told them they would be expected to say a few words after dinner." (Mary Kay: You Can Have It All 1997 Calendar)

Women are natural salespeople. Once they believe in a product, they sell it to everyone they meet. They have spent their lives selling their husbands, children, neighbors and friends on whatever they believe in. Selling a product they are sold on themselves is second nature. I am amazed by the ingenuity, creativity and ability to see that women possess. (From My Heart to Yours, Page 25)

Jan, The hour show was great. I have read other things about Mary Kay. She certainly was a giving woman.
In answer to your questions.
1. I enjoyed hearing that her children supported her work and were able to join her company. What fun!
2. I was inspired by the fact that even though she suffered adversities, as we all do, she remained positive and pressed on.
3. I was surprised to hear that Mary Kay had such a global effect on women.
I looked for you in the film. If you were in there I missed you. :-(
Thanks for telling me about this show...I would have missed it for sure.

The secret is constructive action, placing a value on your time and learning to balance and budget your time. Treat it as if it were gold, which it is. Remember that one intense hour is worth a dreamy day. Allow yourself enough time to do each job properly, but don't be afraid to delegate authority and to employ help when it's necessary. Time-saving tips: After you finish washing the dinner dishes, set the table for breakfast. Lay out your clothes before you go to sleep. Set your alarm for thirty minutes earlier than you normally do; this adds two full days a month! Learn to say no. Learn to delegate. More time-saving tips: Know how much time to allot for routine tasks. Allow extra time for the unexpected. Don't waste time watching excessive amounts of TV; women ages thirty-five to fifty-five and older watch thirty-two to forty-one hours of television per week, on average. Have a place for everything, and have everything in its place. Organize your mail, and handle every piece only once. Additional time-saving tips: Do your laundry once a week, having organized clothes according to color. Shop in advance for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas. Set appointments for exact times. Let your children help; not only do you save time, but your youngsters assume responsibility, which builds their character. Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

Always being able to look forward to something special is one of life's greatest pleasures. The dream itself may be what makes the journey most interesting. As Kahlil Gibran said, "The significance of a man is not what he attains but rather what he longs to attain." So go ahead and dream - and as you attain those dreams, keep right on raising your sights, striving for even greater heights. (Mary Kay: You Can Have It All 1997 Calendar)

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

There is a disease that seems to afflict only females known as the "If I can," "I hope" and "Maybe" syndrome. You seldom hear these words from men. Therefore it seems to come from some women's lack of confidence in their own abilities. I believe that women can do anything they decide to put their minds to. I think when God made man, He was just practicing! His ultimate creation was woman. And because of this, He expects more from us. Once convinced that she can do anything, a woman can go from a shy, introverted, "wallflower" to a personable, poised woman who exudes confidence. (From My Heart to Yours, Page 6)

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

As my own life has been woven under the tutelage of the master weaver, I have learned many things. But one of the greatest is that you can make giving a way of life! If you do this, first of all you will find that you will be happier than you could ever have believed or imagined. Being able to do things for others fills you with a warmth you can never get in any other way. Remember that time you helped someone and how really good you felt? Maybe it was taking a dish of hot food to a bereaved neighbor, or taking care of a child for a sick friend, or giving facials to elderly people in a nursing home when you knew there would be no sales. You discovered it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. (, April 1989 Applause From the Heart)

Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life, ever!
There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today; but I did! And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and yes even the hardships because they have served to make me stronger. I will go through this day with my head held high, and a happy heart.
I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts: the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the flowers, the birds. Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice.
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people. I'll make someone smile. I'll go out of my way to perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.
Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for them and how much they mean to me.
Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have and start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me.
I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in God and his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.
Tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens. I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon, and I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.
As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow, I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life. And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child, excited with expectation because I know tomorrow is going to be ......

The Best Day Of My Life!

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

Giving is one of life's greatest joys. Those who are able to experience this joy daily - and get paid for it - are indeed fortunate. If your career does not provide this pleasure, don't despair. You can contribute to the well-being of people in many other ways. Volunteer your time. Homeless shelters, hospitals, and churches are a few of the places waiting for your special touch.

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

Women are natural salespeople. Once they believe in a product, they sell it to everyone they meet. They have spent their lives selling their husbands, children, neighbors and friends on whatever they believe in. Selling a product they are sold on themselves is second nature. I am amazed by the ingenuity, creativity and ability to see that women possess. (From My Heart to Yours, Page 25)

Words of Wisdom From Mary Kay Ash

Self-confidence is all-important...believe that you can do whatever you set out to do. Any idea that you firmly fix in your subconscious mind by repeated affirmation automatically becomes a plan or a blueprint which an unseen power uses in directing your efforts toward the attainment of the objects named in your plan. Daily you must have a formula which you will use that will help you to acquire this self-confidence you need to attain success. First, know that you have the ability to achieve the object of your definite purpose -- your goal. And demand persistent and aggressive and continuous action toward its attainment. Second, realize that the dominating thoughts of your mind eventually reproduce themselves in outward bodily action and gradually transform themselves into physical reality. Therefore, you must concentrate for a certain number of minutes each day on the task of thinking of the person you intend to be; creating a mental picture of this person and transforming that person into reality through practical service. And third, remember that any desire that you persistently hold in your mind will eventually seek expression through some means of realizing it. Therefore devote a few minutes daily to development of the following factors...a habit of saving-initiative and leadership-imagination-self-control-the habit of doing more than you are paid for-and of developing a pleasing personality

After I'm introduced to someone, I repeat the person's name. I do this for two reasons. First, it helps me remember the name, and second, it's been said that the most pleasant sound to a person is his or her own name. Speaking the person's name whenever you're introduced to someone new is a good habit to develop. (Mary Kay: You Can Have It All 1997 Calendar)

How encouraging it is to wake up, say good morning to the Lord, and then thank Him for giving you this beautiful pink gift called Mary Kay. Jan, I want to thank you for reminding me to start the day by praying that God leads me to people who needs encouragement and knowledge about good skin care. Last night on my way home from the MK event, I stopped at a gas station, just asked the cashier if anyone has offereed her a Mary Kay facial. She said she wasn't into make-up. Usually I let the conversation drop there, but I remembered why I'm in Mary Kay. I'm in it first, to get the knowledge of good skincare out there to women. So, I told the girl how important good skincare is, and that Mary Kay is way more than make-up. So, she gave me her number to call her this week.
Jan, thank you also for reminding me to take "me" out of the main focus. Not only will we all grow as business women, but We are also going to grow as Godly women. I pray that we never lose our sparkle and shine. I also thank God from time to time that He gave Holly's Hotshots an awesome adoptee director in Jan. Jan, you inspire me to put my best Mary Kay foot forward. I loved the words spoken by Becky at the end of our event. That was so inspiring to me. I think what an awesome power we have inside us, and we shouldn't be afraid to tap into it. How much higher would we fly then!!!

Helping others is the best way to help yourself.

I am glad I ran across this saying this morning. I have been in a slump lately using excuses not to work.(granted I have a pretty good one, but that shouldn't be stopping me from working, but encouraging me to work harder!) It has gotten me absolutely nowhere. Last night I made some calls and got things on my books. Believe it or not, I slept so much better, I feel so much better. I am excited! So what are you doing to help yourself today? Who have you forgotten to ask about a facial? Have a wonderful day!

This weekends events were amazing. At Holly's debut on Friday, she talked about the fear of success. That hurt! I so want go big places in my business, but like so many of you, am afraid of what is going to, or not going to, happen on my way there. This holds me back to some degree. We need to find whatever that fear is and figure out a way around. Otherwise, we are always stuck just treading water in the same place instead of swimming to our destination.

Hi everyone. It has been awhile since I have posted. I have been out of town until yesterday. It is great to read the posts as always.
I have always put God first in my life. I would treat others as I would like to be treated. Sometimes I would be taken advantage of, other times I would get great satisfaction knowing that I have done what God has put me on this earth to do.
Taking care of our customers gives me great satisfaction. I know that if I continue to follow this path, great rewards will not be far behind.
Recently my life has taken an unbelievable turn for the better. Not only professionally but personally- one of God's great rewards for serving Him.
Keep up the great work girls, I hope to see you all soon.

Remember that the hardest part of any task is getting started. Be careful not to confuse mere activity with action. You can put in a lot of miles running in place-but you will stop right where you started. The secret is constructive action. Placing a value on your time and learning to balance and budget your time. Treat it as if it were gold, which it is.

There are many things that I hope to happen, wish for, pray for, etc. and for some reason, they are not happening. There is a reason that God is not allowing it right now. I just have to figure out why. Am I supposed to be a teacher? What is it about me that God loves so much? What is my assignment from God and am I doing it? This book will help to lead me in the direction that I need to figure all of that out. Remember that we are all unique and here for a purpose. Sometimes it just takes a while to find that purpose. I hope that everyone is doing fabulous today! If not, make it a fabulous day. We live in a negative world and can carry that negativity if we choose. I choose not to. We must have a positive attitude. If you assign the letters in the word "attitude" a numeric value according to where they are in the alphabet, then add up the numbers, you get 100. Ladies, I know that my messages lately have been a little longer than normal. I have just started reading motivational books, etc. and I find that when I start my day with a positive thought and quote, I have a tremendous day. So I just hope that I have helped brighten your day as well.

Today is about self-confidence. Mary Kay has given me so much of that! I have forgotten what it feels like to walk with my head down, avoid all eye contact with people I see, or sit in the corner and do nothing. Mary Kay is my strength!

"A person who has made up her mind walks in a more positive way. You hear conviction and belief in her voice, and you see determination in her eyes. An idea takes hold of a person who has made up her mind. She moves with power toward her goal. She has made up her mind, turned on the ignition and got on her way toward becoming a star. This can be your story. Let nothing deter you. You can do it." ~Mary Kay

Unfortunatly, due to unforseen circumstances, I will not be able to attend any more meetings or at the very least, I can get things worked out. I have truly enjoyed meeting you all. The fun I had at the meetings and the wonderful ladies I met will forever be in my heart. I know all of you will be very successful and will have alot of fun in the process.
Keep up the good work and Ill be rooting for you.
I love you all,

I am happier when I am doing my skin care class, facials, etc., and as a result, my business flourishes! I don't think I've heard anyone say that they weren't happy with their Mary Kay, yet. Be happy and remember to smile at someone today. You may be the only one who does!

At every Success Event our models are given a bumble bee. We all know the story as we hear it every week. However, as I was sitting here contimplating what to write, I realized that I don't have the bumble bee mentality. We all know that we can get anything we want, just as the bumble bee did. I know what my goals in Mary Kay are, and as I reflect on my business, I know that I have not accomplished the vast majority of those goals. Why? Because I haven't actually worked at them! But, as the bumble bee wanted to fly, she had to put forth the effort to make her wings flap. Ladies, my wings are now flapping and I am going to get where I want my Mary Kay business to take me. She didn't just lay in hive, she had to work to fly. Work you business, set (or reset) your goals, and FLY!!!!

Girls let me tell you about my harrowing flight from Houston this morning. My flight left at 7:20 am. We were having a bad thunderstorm coming from the West. I had a window seat so I could see it. Well, we took off and at that time, we were under a downburst of air. The engines started racing and straining to give the plane altitude. I occasionally looked around and saw that not one person was reading, napping etc but holding on. That plane just rocked and strained for awhile. I closed my eyes and just prayed that if this is it then here I come Lord! Of course, I can smile now because obviously all ended OK. Finally after 20 mins of climbing, the pilot came on and said "well that was a real rocky start to the day but I think we are out of the worst of it with no damage." There was a little old man sitting next to me who said he would never fly again.
Anyway, thank the good Lord we are all safe.

Hi girls. I'm back. I had a fantastic time. Warm sunshine, shorts you name it. I bought some farm land in a gated ranch community that is just North or Houston where the economic growth is just skyrocketing! J.O.B s galore. Of course there are alot of MK consultants but there are PLENTY of customers to go around! I grew up in the area and I didnt recognize it. There is a major interstate going through the area but it is still so quiet.
My plans are kind of in limbo at the moment. I need to find homes for my 2 parrots and my female AKC Basset Hound before I do anything. I have been just reading and catching up with everyone. CONGRATULATIONS HOLLY! I am sooo happy for you. I can't wait to see her. Hope to see everyone soon.DD

How are you choosing to work today? What is nice with Mary Kay, is that we get to choose when we work. But we need to work smart. We do not have a timecard to punch with Mary Kay and many are thankful for that. But don't let that determine a "lack" of work because no one is checking up on you. Get out there and work your business ladies. No matter what kind of day I have at my other J-O-B, if I know I am doing something MK, I always have a smile. One day, those I work with will realize why! We are so blessed!

I am so glad that I ran across this quote as I am actually reading a book! I know that personally, lately I have had a lot of personal stuggles. It is usually during these times we turn to Him, often asking "Why?". But, we often forget to turn to Him when things aren't so bad. This made me really think about Mary Kay's values and the values she based her wonderful company on. Don't forget these values! Mine had to be "rechecked", but I am glad for that opportunity. Make today a wonderful day!

Jan touched on this at the January Jumpstart when she mentioned a customer's child's name. I know I appreciate those small things that people remember. We should be doing the same. Don't think of your customers as someone who is just buying from you. Make them feel special and appreciated. I bet, (only because I haven't been in the business long enough)that this leads to those life-long customers! Go out there girls and get it done!

I have several orders coming in this week that are for friends there so it is a good excuse to go.

Hello all. I am really enjoying reading all the posts you all have written. The support that we all give each other is very warming. Let me just tell you how Janice has just been shining. You should have seen her last Friday night. At Shaft I don't think she let too many women by her without stopping them and telling them about Mary Kay. Some of the time she just went up to them at their tables. I thought I was going to have to start counting on my toes the amount of ladies she invited to tonight since I ran out of fingers! She and Becky have been working soooo very hard at their business but they still have the time to continue to encourage me as I continue to go through a very difficult time. Even if they are facing "crisises", they still manage to smile and work through it with grace. I love you all for showing me the same support!!! As a result, I am getting "fired up" again. Thank you! This is what friendship is all about.

Jill, I would like to caution you about the large party with friends. When I was at home at Christmas and had a party with friends - they kept wanting to visit and interupting me. At one point I broke out in a song and dance (literally) to get their attention back to me. I agree with the suggestion that you break the party into smaller groups if possible. If not, nip it in the bud by explaining that you need to practice your "professional" presentation and since they are your friends you value their honest opinion regarding the instruction, so you would like them to pretend during class that they are not your friend and that they only know the hostess. Prompt your hostess that it is important she not encourage socializing during the class. Good Luck! I'm sure it will go well!

Wow Jill! That is a lot of people at one time! I don't know from real experience, the most I have had has been about 7-8. But with that many, I would maybe do a facial on the back of the hand and talk about the product. But if you do the full class, when you begin, just tell them that they are a larger than normal class and that you need their help to stay focused so that you can be done in 1 hour. Otherwise, it can take a long time! Good luck to you! Hope to hear of the success! =)

Hey Janice and MK Beauties,
Janice, Thanks for the e-mail, Yeah, I guess I'm kind of at a stand still, plus I've been so busy with my kids. My 8 mth old has been really sick, and my husband has been work a ton of hours at work so its just been totally caotic at my house. But I do have 2 skin care classes this week, which I'm not sure how they are going to work out, If anyone has any answers on how to do this let me know. 1 skin care class is a mother-daughter with like 12 total people and the other one is going to be a whole bunch of friends with like 14-16 people. How do I keep eveyone's attention and etc. Love you all and I'll see you tonight!!!

I am so excited! I was going through some "old" entries to a facial box I did in Nov. As I was making follow-up calls for those who the time wasn't right or just didn't return my call, I actually booked a facial for Sunday! Never throw those leads away! Have a great day!

I just love this company. Sometimes I get to feeling down or even insignificant. And then something happens that involves MK and I am better; it may be a contact from one of you or I see a Mary Kay Ash quote or one of my customers contacts me and pumps me up. I am so glad to be a part of this!

Ladies, I need help determining the best way to go about placing section 1 and section 2 orders. I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE samples of the new products, but have not had the sales to accommodate more section 1 purchases. Do I go ahead and just order my samples?

Tonight I made a follow-up call to the hostess of a class where a guest did not participate. The hostess said that the woman is sensitive and when I made the comment that I had never heard of her current skin care line, she was offended. Through my ignorance of beauty products I inadvertently caused someone not to try MK. Please don't let this happen to you!

Thursday's SCC was a difficult one. I had someone sit at the table on the cell phone and not participate! Good learning experience. Tonight's class was fun but no sales; chalk another one up to experience.
