Vanessa began her Mary Kay Business as a college student while pursuing a degree in Nursing.  She made a career change and became an Assistant Branch Manager of a bank and continued to work her Mary Kay Business part-time, which allow her to build their first Mary Kay home at the age of 24 as a Beauty Consultant.  She is married to Dennis Upkins who is very devoted and supportive in building her business.  They share 5 children.

She became a Sales Director in 1989; she has earned the use of 13 Mary Kay Career Cars during her career, 8  Pink Cadillacs.  She is currently driving the sporty, Pink Cadillac CTS.

She was recognized as a “Double Star Winner” five times.
She was recognized as a “Triple Star Winner” five times.
She has earned 49 Gold Medals (assisting 5 or more women to start MK in one month)
National Court of Sales 15 times (selling $36,000 or more in a year)
National Court of Recruiting 7 times (assisting 24 or more women to start their business in a year)

Her Unit’s Achievements: Her unit has been recognized by the company as one of the top selling units in all of Mary Kay.

She has received beautiful diamond rings, diamond bubble bees, diamond bar pins and a full-length Mink Coat.  Her unit have completed….. $300,000, $350,000 (4 times), $400,000 (5 times) $450,000 (2 times), $500.000, $600,000 and the $650,000 Circle of Excellence for a total of 15 Unit Club.

Because of her unit’s accomplishments for seminar 2008 -2009 in sales, she and her husband earned an all expense paid trip to Rome & Florence, Italy.

Her Unit  in Team Building: In March and April 2009, the Upkins’ Unit broke their own record adding 53 new unit members in March and over 50 new unit members in April.  They were the #1 unit in team building for the company for March and April 2009. In March 2010, Upkins unit was #1  in Team Building for Biloxi Career Conference.

Her Unit in Sales:  In the Ruby Division, February 2009, her unit was # 6 in sales.

April and May 2009, her unit was #6 in unit sales, and in June her unit broke their own record and ranked #3 unit sales for the entire Ruby Division.

2009 Seminar year, the Upkins’ unit ranked in the Top 20, as #15 in unit sales for entire Ruby Division.

Most Improved Unit in the State of MS  for 2009 and  Number #1 Unit in State of Mississippi in 2009.

In February 2010, her unit was #4 in unit sales; March 2010, her unit was #10 in unit sales out of over 2000 units in the Ruby Division.

Vanessa’s Success story has been featured in national magazines and several company’s  literature including the “Inspiring Success Magazine” a national recruiting brochure for Mary Kay, Inc. along with her supportive husband.

She was nominated as “Miss Go- Give” for August 2006.  This is one of the company’s most covenant awards.

Vanessa’s highest commission earned in 1 month (not including her personal sales) has been $16,302.24.  Including her personal sales her commission has been over  $20, 000.00 in one single month.

Upkins Success Express Seminar Goal for 2011:  To lead her unit to the Million Dollar Circle of Excellence and assist 10 or more ladies to the leadership position as a Mary Kay Sales Director and complete their National Area by April 2012.
